Over the past weeks we have been featuring Heights Farm Market vendors - allowing you, our customers insight into who they are, what they do and identifying why they are such an asset to our local Heights Farm Market.

This week, we are showcasing JAVA & Co. Small Batch Recipes!

Owners: Brian and Jamie Knoll

Local Items: Coffee infused syrups, hand cut biscotti, artisan caramels, pancake mix, oatmeal, JAVA Spice, snack bars, saucey caramel, handcrafted gift crates and espresso powder!

Vendor Information: JAVA & Co. is brought to you by a husband and wife team with an extensive background in the hospitality, food and restaurant business. Leaving New York City and Las Vegas for a change of pace, brought them to Illinois. After a few years of 'quiet living', the hospitality and food business began calling to them. In 2008, JAVA & Co. was born.

JAVA & Co. creates chef-inspired coffee infused specialties. Handmade utilizing proprietary small batch recipes with fine ingredients like real vanilla and hand cracked eggs in the hand cut biscotti; locally roasted coffee beans in the syrups; freshly ground whole spices and coffee in the sweet and savory JAVA Spice; and dairy cream and butter in their artisan caramels.

In their short time in business, they have received national recognition and have been featured by Country Living Magazine, Time Out New York, Daily Candy and many more!

As you may know, for the 2011 Heights Farm Market season, JAVA & Co. has been attending Wednesday markets on and off throughout the season. As a husband and wife team that handles all aspects of their small business - kitchen production, packaging, public relations, marketing and sales on their own, this is the reality of owning and operating a small business. These specialty local businesses add such a wonderful mix of products to the Heights Farm Market - we are glad to have them as a vendor!

Located at Heritage Square in Peoria Heights begins
Wednesday, June 14th from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Indoor Holiday Farm Market

Heights Farm Market vendors and more will enjoy a Holiday Farm Market this Saturday, December 18th in the Atrium Market inside of Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Winter produce, country baked goods, hand cut pasta, handmade caramels, edible hostess and holiday gifts by JAVA & Co., and more are just some of the wonderful items to be found this Saturday morning. This is the last day to pick-up local winter produce and locally handmade specialties - until 2011. This is the perfect time to stock up for holiday dinners and hostess gift giving.

Saturday, December 18th - 8:00 am to Noon

WHERE:
Inside the Atrium in Methodist Medical Center on Main Street in Peoria with plenty of easy access FREE parking.

Holiday Open House - November 19th & 20th

Showcasing one of our own vendors:

Jenkins Country Comforts & Farm Market is holding a holiday open house today and tomorrow (Friday, 11/19 & Saturday, 11/20). Their historic barn and gift shop is located off scenic route 26 - just a few miles outside of Lacon going towards Peoria on Rt. 26. Look for the big red barn and open house signs!

Stop in for some hot apple cider, holiday gifts and decor and delicious handmade baked goods. You can't go wrong. Add it to your agenda for the weekend and be sure to stop by!

TWO Market Days Left....

Leaves are starting to tumble to the ground, the air is cooling and fall is announcing its arrival...

The farmers are bringing beautiful local produce to the Heights Farm Market. Take advantage of the local quality and stop by on Wednesday! The weather is going to be incredible. Extend your labor day weekend and enjoy an evening in the market square on September 8th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. If you've been considering buying local gifts from our local artisans for the holidays, don't delay - there are only TWO more market days left in the 2010 season - can you believe it?!
